It’s been a wonderful and eventful summer here at QCT. Totally Red finished its three month tour to local schools, libraries, and community groups; The Halloween Trilogy spooked audiences throughout June, and Triple Threat Boot Camp jazzed it up in August as 69 students learned about classic jazz musicals and created a killer showcase.
This past weekend, I attended the AACT Team Conference at the Des Moines Playhouse in
Iowa and had a great time learning and networking alongside education directors from all over the country. Look out, students, I came home with a lot of new games to try in class!
Now we are officially starting up fall programming. Next week we are having auditions for our student theatre production of A Wrinkle in Time. I CANNOT WAIT TO GET STARTED ON THIS SHOW. A Wrinkle in Time was one of my favorite childhood books, and this adaptation by John Glore has been on my director bucket list for quite some time. I have been re-reading the novel by Madeline L’Engle, and it feels like catching up with an old friend. I deeply love this story, and there’s a fantastic creative team in place to bring it to life.
Auditions are open to students in grades 3-12 and adults. You can register for an appointment by clicking here.
Also on the horizon: our 2017 season announcement is coming soon! We will introduce next year’s slate of productions at our membership meeting on September 13. If you have never been a member of QCT, this is the perfect time to get involved and hear more about our upcoming projects. Let me tell you, we have some special stuff coming next year. A hint: one of the student theatre shows is a new play…written by me!
