Kelsey Celek is celebrating her fifth season as the Head of Education/Director of Student Theatre for the Quincy Community Theatre in Quincy, Illinois.

In 2019, Kelsey will direct The Addams Family, Apollo: To the Moon, Stuart Little, and The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time.

In 2018, Kelsey was named Outstanding Fine Arts Teacher of the Year by Arts Quincy.

A director/teaching artist originally from Dayton, Ohio, Kelsey has had the pleasure of working with students across the country through the Missoula Children’s Theater, the Jewish Federation of Greater Dayton, the Children’s Theatre of Cincinnati, and the Omaha Theater Company.

Kelsey is also an actor, most recently as the title role in Lady Windermere’s Fan.  Other favorite credits include Mary Poppins (Mary Poppins), [title of show] (Susan), The Light in the Piazza (Margaret), and the world premiere of The Grocer’s Goblin and the Little Mermaid (Grocer’s Wife/Oldest Sister).

Kelsey is also…

…a playwright, whose work has been produced by the Secret Theater, Cincinnati Playwrights Initiative, Artists Without Limits, Tip My Cup Productions, and She and Her Productions.  Kelsey’s one act musical, Zander (written with composer Andy Roninson), was presented at part of the 8 Minute Musical Festival in New York City.  Her most recent play, an interactive adaptation of L. Frank Baum’s American Fairy Tales, was produced as part of Quincy Community Theatre’s 2017 season.
