Stephen Schwartz visited Dayton in April to help judge a college scholarship competition for musical theater students that’s named in his honor.
I was thrilled to meet and perform for him. I was a finalist along with several of my friends from school. We all did “Magic to Do” as the opening number, and my pieces were “It’s An Art” and “Holding to the Ground”.
All the finalists got to meet Mr. Schwartz after the competition. He’s a really nice, genuine guy. Very encouraging of students of the arts.
And my dad jaywalked with Stephen Schwartz in downtown Dayton. He was pretty stoked about that.
