One more weekend of Seussical Jr.!

There’s one more weekend to see our two stellar casts for Seussical Jr. at Town Hall Theatre! Tickets are available here.

Now that the show is open, I’m taking some time to process just how much this show has meant to me. It’s a special one.

I have loved Seussical since I was given the Broadway Cast Recording as a teenager. (Thanks, Mom.) My teenage self was so taken with the bold, silly characters, the beautiful score, and the clever ways popular Seuss stories were tied together. Since this was before the days of YouTube “slime tutorials”, I spent a lot of time imagining what my version of the show would be like.

With the gift of hindsight, I now see this was around the same time I was taking a true interest in directing – so those early days of envisioning how I’d get such a creative show on its feet are undoubtedly connected to the kind of director I am now.

Decades later, here we are – and it was 100% worth the wait. I got to work with a top notch production team. These designers and creatives were not afraid to take big weird swings for this big weird show. I have posted my production photos, and am so proud to have collaborated with this team.

And the CAST – 32 student actors from throughout the Dayton area, forming 2 casts, several of whom are performing for the very first time. They approached this story with bold imaginations and full hearts, and they made my job very easy.

There are 2 key moments in the show that are realized exactly the way I’d pictured them at age 14. What a gift to be able to revisit a long-held dream. This whole process has been so joyous that, in the best way possible, I’ve felt like I’m 14 again. And I’m go glad to share that with our audiences now. I hope you can join us for the last weekend of performances.
