After more than 15 years of working with student actors across the US, helping them prepare for auditions and performances, I’ve noticed a few universal truths:

1. Audition nerves are normal for actors of all ages and levels of experience.
2. It can be hard for parents/guardians/adoring fans to help their aspiring actor prepare for an audition, especially if they’ve never tried it themselves.
3. Choosing a good audition piece can make or break the experience. But finding good material for young actors, particularly monologues, is difficult!

In an effort to help deal with these challenges, I created Monologues for Young Actors Vol. 1, which is now available on Amazon! This audition guide includes three age-appropriate monologues and some how-to tips on how to perform them in an audition setting. It should be a good resource for actors ages 8-12.
